Christian or Republican???

today a customer came in to starbucks and was wearing a "vote democrat" pin. Sandy jokingly said, "hey Katie look at her pin." I saw it and smiled. Sandy knows I'm Republican and likes to "tease" (for lack of a better word) about it.

The Lady then proceeded to say when she was young she went along with what her parents told her to do, but when she became older and wiser she became democrat. She also told me that after reading the Gospels, she realized that her religion only supports the democratic party, and apparently liberals are theonly political party that helps the less fourtunate. She told me i will have to answer to God for my doings or lack there of. She kept insisting there was no way I could be a Christian and a republican.

I must have missed the 11th commandment, "Thou shall vote Democrat."

Personally, i think both political parties have problems. Can one political party be walking closer in the direction of God's plan than the other at a given time? It's possible. I know God didn't agree with slavery. I know he's not a supporter of gay marriage, or abortion, and know that God would like us to help the less fortunate.

my basic breakdown, Conservatives usually want less government and more personal responsibility, Fearing more government equals less freedom possibly leading to dictatorship, and Historically speaking, that's pretty accurate. Liberals tend to call for more government action in areas like social services. God wants us to have freedom & help others.

All I have to say:
God looks at the heart of the individual. NOT the D or R next to their name. we should do the same

even though I'm "republican" doesn't mean I don't help out the needy.

Making accusations like 'republicans hate the poor' is not very "christian-y"

A leader of a church should be godly, ethical, and a moral person, as should the leader of our country. No matter who the President is, (no matter whether i like them or not, or even if i voted for them or not,) we are commanded to honor and respect them. We should pray for our leaders on a daily basis to make the right, god-fearing decision.
Romans 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

We should be more concerned with the things of God not of the things of this world.
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Lastly, my dear customer, when i comes down to it, I vote for GOD.

and i am actually a monarchist waiting for the return of my KING.

Be my everything

God in my living
There in my breathing
God in my waking
God in my sleeping

God in my resting
There in my working
God in my thinking
God in my speaking

Be my everything

God in my hoping
There in my dreaming
God in my watching
God in my waiting

God in my laughing
There in my weeping
God in my hurting
God in my healing

Be my everything

Why did I get marrried?!?

So today my manager sat me down in the office and started talking to me about her kids and how she told them there was a law that you can't get married until you are 25. She insisted that people under 25 are not mature enough to get married. then she asked me, if I could do it all over again would I have waited?
My answer...
"No, I would have gotten married younger." (not to mention I was much thinner so I would have looked hotter in my dress)
A few people have expressed to me that I "got married too young" "I need to experience life" and all the other usual sayings. The thing is life doesn't wait. In an ideal world everyone would live a long healthy life, but there are no guarantees. I knew I was going to marry jarmon it was just a matter of when, and for me it was the sooner the better.

A few benefits to getting married at a young age:

1. Your poor, you learn how to live on nothing. If you can make it work through all the rough budgeting, you'll be fine. most arguments in relationships are about finances. You can argue about something you don't have

2. All the memories. everything we experience is together so when we're 85 we can sit on our couch talking about all the things we have done together.

3. Getting to move out and live with your best friend is awesome. my hubby is always here with me and its great having that kind of support system all the time.

4. We get a lot of time together before we have kids.

5. For me: qualifying as an independent and actually getting some financial aid for school and for the hubby: he finally got health insurance. haha!

God has blessed our marriage and friendship tremendously, and I thank him everyday for giving me the best hubby that I could have asked for.

1 Corinthians 13

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails

Sung-Bong Choi

I was touched by this young boys story. It's difficult to hear of a child boy having such a rough childhood. At one point in the interview he says he was sold. It breaks my heart to know things like this go on in our world, no child or anyone for that matter should be sleeping on stairs and in public toilets. There is another Sung-Bong Choi somewhere sleeping outside on the streets, alone, who longs for a family to love him.

Translation:

In my fantasy
In my fantasy I see a just world,
Where everyone lives in peace and honesty.
I dream of souls that are always free
Like the clouds that float
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

In my fantasy I see a bright world
Where each night there is less darkness.
I dream of spirits that are always free,
Like the clouds that float

In my fantasy exists a warm wind,
That blows into the city, like a friend.
I dream of souls that are always free,
Like the clouds that float
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

Sweet Little Isobel, passed away earlier this week. Although her disease was incurable, and her passing was expected, doesn't make it any easier. It's sad to think a baby I was playing with a month ago, is no longer with us. She's not an orphan. She is now in the arms of her Father, and playing with my beautiful Emma Rose. I'm sure they are BFFs.

Neptune's Birthday

Neptune was one year old yesterday. Not in Earth years, obviously — and not technically in Neptune years. Tuesday marked the day Neptune finally completed one trip around the sun since its official discovery on Sept. 23, 1846. One Neptuninan year equals 164.79 Earth years. Though the idea of a planet having a birthday is a little funny, I'll go with it for the sake of having something to celebrate. Here’s my birthday wish to the planet: May you never end up like Pluto.

Fun Quick Neptune Facts:
1. Neptune is the most distant planet
2. Neptune is the smallest of the gas giants
3. Neptune’s surface gravity is almost Earthlike
4. The discovery of Neptune is still a controversy,English and French astronomers battled over who actually made the discovery.
5. Neptune has the strongest winds in the Solar System. The winds there can blow up to 1,240 miles per hour, that is three times as fast as Earth's Hurricanes
6. Neptune is the coldest planet in the Solar System
7. Neptune has 8 known moons
8. Neptune is 30 times farther from the sun as is the Earth.

Dirty Diaper Dancing

have you ever seen anything cuter than this?? he gets his good dancing skills from his auntie :)

little accomplishments

So at work we have these new refresher drinks that have berries and lime wheels in them. so now we have two more containers to fit in our tiny counter.

I came up with the brilliant idea of stacking them on top of each other to save some space. so i took an empty plexi that holds straws

and had the brilliant idea to cut off one of the side to make a little cubicle to fit one of the containers under and one on top.

i got most of the side cut out, you can see the part that didn't cooperate. so i set up my little shelf only to realize that i could have just laid the stupid cube on its side and it would have done the exact same thing i was going for

let me remind you no one else thought of that at the time either. i felt pretty blond after that moment. i think its time to get the dye.

the end product!! :) yay for my little accomplishment :)

just let me rant

Conversation at work today (names have been changed to save the identity of the stupid. keep in mind the customer is a little overweight, a smoker, and is allergic to dairy)

barista # 1: Hey how are you?

customer: feeling like s#*+. the doctor put me on heavy antibiotics to get rid of this cough but its not working, the doctor has no idea whats wrong. I even broke a rib from coughing so hard.

barista # 1: wow i'm sorry, so are you getting your soy frapp a grande or a venti today?

customer: venti, i need something to take with me to drink during my weight watchers meeting. it sucks i'm not losing weight because I can't work out,and i need to lose some weight. I don't even eat anything, (pause) well i do eat. but i can't lose any weight because i cant work out.

barista # 2: oh, ok so do you not want me to put any whipped cream on it?

barista # 3: Yea, whipped cream is probably like 60 points. haha.

customer: no, give me the whipped cream.

umm do i really have to be the one to say it? i know i have bad habits and i'm overweight, but i try to make conscious decisions on what i eat and if i want to splurge on something i make sure its in moderation and a smaller size. i'm pretty sure her antibiotics for her cough are not working properly because she keeps filling her lungs with smoke. I know there could be some other underlying condition, but i'm pretty sure the smoking isn't helping with her cough. why do people complain about all these issues with their health but then do nothing to fix it. she could have easily gotten her frapp a light, or a smaller size, or with out whipped cream, especially since milk makes her sick, and we use very heavy milk to make our whipped cream. she is a nice lady, but sometimes i want to jump over the counter and shaker her, and yell take care of yourself!!!
